Holy Week Movie Greats-The Ten Commandments (1956) and The Passion Of The Christ (2004)

Since it's Holy Week...we're taking you into the glimpse of biblical movies. We'll feature here two remarkable movies that shook the world, from directors that has the ability to make movies into a monumental success and marked the movie world with their amazing ideas and creativity.

First...is the remarkable 1956 movie from Cecil B. Demilles - The Ten Commandments. A 1956 American motion picture that dramatized the biblical story of Moses, an adopted Egyptian prince-turned deliverer of the Hebrew slaves. It was released by Paramount Pictures in VistaVision on October 5, 1956. It was directed by Cecil B. DeMille and starred Charlton Heston in the lead role.
This movie is one of the most financially successful films made, grossing over $65 million at the North American box office. Adjusting for inflation, this makes it the fifth highest grossing movie in North America, with an adjusted total of $977 million in 2010 and in 1999, The Ten Commandments was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". In June 2008, AFI revealed its "Ten top Ten"—the best ten films in ten "epics" American film genres—after polling over 1,500 people from the creative community. The Ten Commandments was acknowledged as the tenth best film in the epic genre.

If you still haven't seen the film i tell you now..go out and grab a dvd copy of this..or else you'll be missing one of the greatest movie ever made in history.
Here's the trailer

Second film that shook the world is The Passion of the Christ (2004). Directed by Mel Gibson. It is based on the New Testament accounts of the arrest, trial, torture, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, events commonly known as The Passion. The film’s dialogue is in Aramaic, Latin, and Hebrew, with subtitles. It is the highest grossing non-English language and R-rated film ever...and i tell you the violent scene in this movie are so gruesome...i can even remember the crying sounds of the audience when this was shown on theaters.

Gibson says "This is a movie about love, hope, faith, and forgiveness. He [Jesus] died for all mankind, suffered for all of us. It's time to get back to that basic message. The world has gone nuts. We could all use a little more love, faith, hope, and forgiveness." He also explains one of his appearances in the film, the close-up of his hands nailing Jesus to the cross: "It was me that put Him on the cross. It was my sins [that put Jesus there]."

Repo Men (2010)

In the futuristic action—thriller Repo Men, humans have extended and improved our lives through highly sophisticated and expensive mechanical organs created by a company called The Union. The dark side of these medical breakthroughs is that if you don’t pay your bill, The Union sends its highly skilled repo men to take back its property…with no concern for your comfort or survival.

Jude Law plays Remy, one of the best organ repo men in the business. When he suffers a cardiac failure on the job, he awakens to find himself fitted with the company’s top—of—the—line heart—replacement…as well as a hefty debt. But a side effect of the procedure is that his heart’s no longer in the job. When he can’t make the payments, The Union sends its toughest enforcer, Remy’s former partner Jake (Academy Award® winner Forest Whitaker), to track him down.

Now that the hunter has become the hunted, Remy joins Beth (Alice Braga), another debtor who teaches him how to vanish from the system. And as he and Jake embark on a chase across a landscape populated by maniacal friends and foes, one man will become a reluctant champion for thousands on the run.

Let me clear this to you that Repo Men is not a sequel to Repo Man movie in which according to our researchers came out in the 1980's. I heard it's a good movie worth to watch.

Flashback 1973 - Enter The Dragon ( Bruce Lee )

We're taking you back in time again with one of the most remarkable and unforgettable film ever produced with an Asian Kung-Fu Star. Ever heard of Bruce Lee? Oh you might say what a stupid question...hehehe...of course you do heard of this noisy guy whenever he fights..hehehe.

Enter the Dragon movie was the first Chinese martial arts film to have been produced by a major Hollywood studio and was produced in association with Golden Harvest and Lee's Concord Production Company. The film is largely set and filmed in Hong Kong.

Among the stuntmen for the film were members of the Seven Little Fortunes, including Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung. This was arguably instrumental in Chan and Hung's further association with Golden Harvest studios, which later launched their careers. The portly Hung is shown fighting Lee in the opening sequence of the movie.

The finished version of the film was significantly different from the original screenplay drafts as Bruce Lee revised much of the script himself, including having written and directed the film's opening Shaolin Monastery fight sequence. Lee wanted to use the film as a vehicle for expressing what he saw as the beauty of his Chinese culture, rather than it being just another action film. Eheemm...very nationalistic huh.

The Plot was Lee is a Shaolin martial artist from Hong Kong who possesses great philosophical insight into martial arts as well as physical prowess. He receives an invitation to a martial arts competition on an island organised by the mysterious Han. Lee learns from his Sifu (master) that Han was also once a Shaolin student, but had been expelled from their order for abusing their code of conduct. Now Lee discovers more than what he expected and twirled in a bloody fight of his life.

Let's check out the original classic trailer of this movie...

Tron Legacy is a forthcoming 2010 science fiction film. It is a sequel to the 1982 film Tron. We'll also let you see the trailer of the 1982 original film and the old poster down below. So don't worry... we'll not let you down leaving this page with questions like what the first film looks like? and how it differs to this new movie? I mean 1982 to 2010? It's kinda long, i'm wondering what's the reaction of the Tron movie fans of the first film now a days? Hehehe...

Joseph Kosinski makes his feature film directorial debut with Tron Legacy, while the previous film director, Steven Lisberger, returns as a producer. Jeff Bridges reprises his role as Kevin Flynn, and Bruce Boxleitner his roles as Alan Bradley and Tron, while Garrett Hedlund portrays Flynn's now-adult son, Sam. The Last Song (2010) Miley Cyrus

This is an American coming-of-age drama film developed alongside the Nicholas Sparks novel by the same name. The film was directed by Julie Anne Robinson in her feature film directorial debut. The movie stars Miley Cyrus, Greg Kinnear, and Liam Hemsworth. Offspring Entertainment produced the film for Touchstone Pictures, an alternative film label of The Walt Disney Company.

The plot:
Seventeen-year-old Veronica 'Ronnie' Miller's life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Tybee Island, Georgia. Three years later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, especially her father ...until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she spent the summer on Tybee Island with him. Ronnie's father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church.

The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story about love in its myriad forms - first love, the love between parents and children - that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that deeply felt relationships can break our hearts ...and heal them.

The Last Song was originally scheduled for wide release on January 8, 2010, but has since been postponed to March 31, 2010. The film's premiere will be held in Los Angeles, California on March 25, 2010.

Spiderman 4 (Movie info)

I'm tired of so much Spider-man fake trailers and untrue release dates...i must admit i'm kinda excited too... to see Mr. Spidey on the big screen again. But then it seems that we have to wait for 2012 before our friendly neighborhood Spider-man will show up to entertain us.

In 2007, Spider-Man 4 entered development, with Raimi attached to direct and Maguire, Dunst and other cast members set to reprise their roles. Both a fourth and a fifth movie were planned, and at one time the idea of shooting the two sequels concurrently was under consideration. However, Raimi stated in March 2009 that only the fourth film was currently in development and that if there were fifth and sixth films, the two films would actually be a continuation of each other.

Here's a clip about Spider-man's creator to talk about the said plans

James Vanderbilt was hired in October 2007 to pen the screenplay, after initial reports in early 2007 that Sony Pictures was in contact with David Koepp, who wrote the first Spider-Man film. The script was subsequently rewritten by Pulitzer-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire, and rewritten again by Gary Ross in October 2009. Sony also engaged Vanderbilt to write scripts for Spider-Man 5 and Spider-Man 6.

In 2007, Raimi expressed interest in portraying the transformation of Dr. Curt Connors into his villainous alter-ego, the Lizard; the character's actor Dylan Baker and producer Grant Curtis have also been enthusiastic about the idea. It was reported in December 2009 that John Malkovich was in negotiations to play Vulture, and that Anne Hathaway would play Felicia Hardy, though she would not have transformed into the Black Cat, as in the comics. Instead, Raimi's Felicia was expected to become a brand-new superpowered figure called the Vulturess.

Sony Pictures announced in January 2010 that plans for Spider-Man 4 had been cancelled due to Raimi's withdrawal from the project. Raimi reportedly ended his participation due to doubt that he could meet the planned May 2011 release date while upholding the film creatively.

Simultaneous with the cancellation of Spider-Man 4, Sony announced that the franchise would be rebooted with a new director and new cast. The reboot film is scheduled to be released in summer 2012 and will focus on Peter Parker developing his abilities in high school. Sony also confirmed that James Vanderbilt will write the script for the new film and Marc Webb will direct the next Spider-Man film. In February 2010 Sony announced the film would be released on July 3, 2012 in 3-D.

Don't ask about any trailer guys...there's no official trailer for this movie. We will not post fan-made trailers or something that will make your blood boils in disappointments..hehehehe...

maybe teaser poster will do...

Antichrist

Hey..this is not an x-rated movie as it looks like in here. But it's controversial as it seems...

The Plot?
A couple lose their young son when he falls out the window while they have sex in the other room. The mother's grief consigns her to hospital, but her therapist husband brings her home intent on treating her depression himself. To confront her fears they go to stay at their remote cabin in the woods, "Eden", where something untold happened the previous summer. Told in four chapters with a prologue and epilogue, the film details acts of lustful cruelty as the man and woman unfold the darker side of nature outside and within.

Most of the film features only two actors, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Willem Dafoe, plus the child at a couple points in the film. The narrative is made up of a prologue, four chapters and an epilogue. Primarily a Danish production, the film was also co-produced with companies from five other countries.

After premiering at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, where Gainsbourg won the festival's award for Best Actress, the film came under attack for what some critics view as misogyny, as well as for featuring explicit sexual violence. At the same time many critics praised the film for its visuals and serious approach. Other awards include the Robert Award for best Danish film, The Nordic Council Film Prize for best Nordic film and the European Film Award for best cinematography.

Now..who can disregard this very disturbing poster? Hhmmmm?

The Hurt Locker

The Hurt Locker is a 2008 American war film. It follows a United States Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team during the Iraq War. Now, since our site started at the end leaf of December of 2009, we haven't notice this film until it became so popular for receiving so many awards. Okay... finally we've got the trailer posted in here.

The film was directed by Kathryn Bigelow. The screenplay was written by Mark Boal, a freelance writer who was embedded as a journalist in 2004 with a US bomb squad in Iraq. It stars Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, and Brian Geraghty as members of a U.S. Army EOD unit in Iraq and follows their tour together as they contend with defusing bombs, the threat of insurgency, and the tension that develops among them. The film was shot in Jordan, within miles of the Iraq border.

It was first released theatrically in Italy in 2008, when it premiered at the Venice Film Festival. After being shown at the Toronto International Film Festival in North America, it was picked up for distribution in the United States by Summit Entertainment. It was released in the United States on June 26, 2009, in New York and Los Angeles. Based on the success of its limited run, the independent film received a more widespread theatrical release in the United States on July 24, 2009. Because the 2008 film was not originally released in the U.S. (at least in an Oscar-qualifying run in L.A.) until 2009, it was eligible to be judged for that year's awards, the 82nd Academy Awards held in 2010.

The Hurt Locker was one of the most acclaimed films of 2009, earning awards and honors from numerous critics' organizations, festivals and groups. It was nominated for nine Academy Awards and won six, including Best Picture and Best Director for Bigelow, who became the first woman to win the award. The film also swept the 2010 BAFTA Awards, winning best film, director, original screenplay, editing, cinematography and sound.

Robin Hood (2010) Russell Crowe

The guy from the Gladiator movie is back in another epic adventure entitled Robin Hood...directed by Ridley Scott. It is due for release on May 14, 2010.

The film began development in 2007 when Universal acquired a script entitled Nottingham, depicting a heroic Sheriff of Nottingham to be played by Crowe. Scott's dissatisfaction with the script led him to delay filming, and during 2008 it was rewritten into a story about Robin Hood becoming an outlaw, with the position of being Sheriff as part of the story. Scott dropped the latter notion and Nottingham was retitled to reflect the more traditional angle.

I've seen a lot of Robin Hood movies but knowing that Crowe plays the main character in this movie feels terrific. His role as a fighting human icon in the movie Gladiator before looks convincing, there's mo reason he can make it good again this time.
